What makes up this range

  1. Full front, midsize car$1,200 to $3,500$1,900
  2. Total$1,200 low · $3,500 high$1,900

What drives the price

  • Coverage. Each step from partial front to full car adds more film and more hours.
  • Vehicle size and shape. Large and curved panels take more film and more time.
  • Film brand and finish. Premium and matte films cost more and have longer warranties.
  • Install method. Wrapped edges and removed trim cost more than pre-cut film with exposed edges.

What a fair quote should include

  • The film brand, product, finish, and maker's warranty years.
  • A panel-by-panel list of what is covered, such as full hood or an 18 to 24 inch strip.
  • Whether edges are wrapped and whether trim is removed.
  • Paint prep or polishing, and whether a coating is added on top.

How this range was formed: Low is the low end of the Charlotte shop range. Typical is near the median of the shop prices and range midpoints ($1,900). High is the top of the BGI US range. See the sources.

PPF prices at a glance

Paint protection film (PPF) is a clear, thick film that an installer applies to painted panels. It takes rock chips and light scratches so the paint does not. These are national typical prices for a midsize car:

  • Partial front, the bumper, mirrors, and part of the hood and fenders: about $975 ($600 to $1,500).
  • Full front, the full hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors, and headlights: about $1,900 ($1,200 to $3,500).
  • Track pack, a full front plus rocker panels and A-pillars: about $2,900 ($2,000 to $4,500). What it covers differs between installers.
  • Full car, every painted panel: about $5,750 ($4,000 to $8,500). Exotic cars cost much more.

PPF or ceramic coating?

PPF stops chips. A ceramic coating makes paint easier to clean but does not stop chips. Some owners use both: film on the front and a coating on the rest. If the paint has swirls, it needs paint correction before film goes on.

How long PPF lasts

  • Film warranty: Premium films have a 10- to 12-year maker's warranty against yellowing, cracking, and peeling. XPEL's is 10 years. Entry films are about 5 years. (Sources: Exclusive Paint Protection, BGI Tint.)
  • Cheap film: One film maker warns that cheap film can yellow or peel in 2 to 3 years. (Sources: ULTRASHIELD.)

Common questions

How much does PPF cost?

For a midsize car, a partial front typically costs about $975, a full front about $1,900, a track pack about $2,900, and a full car about $5,750.

How much is full front PPF on an SUV?

A full front on an SUV or midsize truck typically costs about $2,175, compared with $1,900 on a midsize car. Larger panels need more film and time.

Why are some PPF quotes much cheaper?

A low price can mean economy film, less coverage, or exposed edges. For example, a partial hood strip instead of the full hood. Compare the film brand, the panel list, and the warranty years.

How long does PPF last?

Premium films carry a 10- to 12-year maker's warranty against yellowing, cracking, and peeling. Entry films are about 5 years.

These are national typical ranges, not quotes. Local prices vary with labor costs, the shop, and your car. Every source was last checked on October 17, 2026. Most shop prices are "starting at" prices.

How each range was formed

Each range is for a midsize car. The low end sits near the cheapest entry packages and the low end of the guides. The typical price sits near the median of the shops' main packages and the guide midpoints. The high end sits near the top packages. No range goes past the prices its sources publish. Other vehicle sizes use the median price ratio from shops that publish one price for each size.

  • Partial front, midsize car: $600 / $975 / $1,500. Low is the low end of the BGI range. Typical is near the median of the range midpoints and the Maryland package price ($975). High is the top of two guides.
  • Full front, midsize car: $1,200 / $1,900 / $3,500. Low is the low end of the Charlotte shop range. Typical is near the median of the shop prices and range midpoints ($1,900). High is the top of the BGI US range.
  • Track pack, midsize car: $2,000 / $2,900 / $4,500. Low is the low end of the BGI range. Typical is near the median of the package price and range midpoints ($2,900). High is the top of the Pure Protection range. What a track pack covers differs between installers, and only four sources price it, so the range is thin.
  • Full car, midsize car: $4,000 / $5,750 / $8,500. Low is the low end of two ranges. Typical is near the median of the package price and range midpoints ($5,750). High is the top of the ULTRASHIELD range. Exotic cars cost much more.
