  • For business cards, flyers, invoices, and your website. Place it on a light background.

  • For apps and forms that do not accept a see-through image.

  • White lettering for dark shirts, a dark van, or a dark website header.

  • For Google Business Profile, Facebook, and Instagram. The logo stays inside the round crop.

Next: the business card maker can put this logo on the front of your cards. It is saved in this browser. Or make a flyer.

What makes a detailing logo work

Your logo will be small most of the time: on a business card, in a profile picture, at the top of an invoice. Customers also see it on a van door from across a parking lot. A logo that works in all of these places has a few things in common.

  • The name is easy to read. A customer who sees your van or card should be able to search for you. Pick lettering you can read at the size of a thumbnail.
  • One simple icon, or none. A car, a drop of water, or a shine mark tells people what you do. Fine detail disappears when the logo is small.
  • Two colors. A dark color for the name and one accent color print well and cost less on shirts and signs.
  • A version for dark backgrounds. Black shirts, dark vans, and dark website headers need light lettering. The maker makes that file for you.

The 2400-pixel files are saved at 300 dots per inch, so they print up to 8 inches wide at full quality. Google asks for Business Profile photos in JPG or PNG, between 10 KB and 5 MB, with a recommended resolution of 720 × 720 pixels and a minimum of 250 × 250 (Google Business Profile help). The square file is larger than the recommended size, which is allowed. Many apps show profile pictures as a circle, so the square file keeps the whole logo inside a circle. Van lettering, decals, and embroidery

The maker saves PNG images. A sign shop that cuts vinyl lettering for a van, or a shop that embroiders shirts, usually needs a vector file (such as SVG, EPS, or AI) or makes its own stitch file. Ask the shop what it needs. Many shops can redraw a simple logo from a PNG; ask the price first. Simple shapes and two colors, like the ones in this maker, are easier to redraw.

Check the name before you print

Before you pay for signs and shirts, search for your business name in your area and online. To see whether someone has registered a similar name as a trademark in the US, search the USPTO trademark database. Our guide on detailing business names has a longer checklist, and the car detailing logo guide explains how to brief a designer.

Questions

Is the logo maker free?

Yes. There is no account, no email, and no watermark. Your entries stay in this browser and are saved on this device only.

Can I use the logo for my business?

Yes. You can put the logo you make here on your cards, van, shirts, website, and anything else for your business. The icons are simple shapes drawn for this site, and other people using this maker can pick the same icon, so the logo is not unique to you. If you want a logo nobody else can use, or plan to register it as a trademark, have a designer draw an original one.

Why does the lettering look different from my other apps?

The Modern, Speed, and Wide styles use DM Sans, an open-license font this site loads, so they look the same on every device. The Classic style uses the serif font your device has, such as Georgia. The downloaded file uses the same lettering and layout as the preview on your screen.

Can I upload my own icon or change the font?

Not in this maker. It keeps to a few choices that print well. To change more, open the downloaded file in a design app, or give it to a designer as a starting point.

What should I make next?

Make business cards: the card maker can put this logo on the front, because both tools save to this browser. Then make a flyer and a price list to send customers.
